A Comparative Study and Evaluation of Stereo Matching Costs for Radiometric Differences
نویسنده
چکیده
Stereo correspondence algorithm depends on matching costs in order to compute the similarity of the image locations. The insensitivity of various cost functions for stereo algorithm is evaluated with respect to radiometric variations of the given input image. We consider both the window based variants as well as pixel based variants like the absolute difference, the sampling insensitivity absolute difference, and normalized cross correlation. We measure the performance in the presence of global intensity changes, local intensity changes. Using stereo data sets with ground-truth disparities taken under controlled changes of exposure and lighting, we evaluate the cost with a local and a global stereo method.

Evaluation of Stereo Matching Costs on Close Range, Aerial and Satellite Images
In the last years, most dense stereo matching methods use evaluation on the Middlebury stereo vision benchmark datasets. Most recent stereo algorithms were designed to perform well on these close range stereo datasets with relatively small baselines and good radiometric behaviour. In this paper, different matching costs on the Semi-Global Matching algorithm are evaluated and compared using the ...

Image matching is a critical process in various photogrammetry, computer vision and remote sensing applications such as image registration, 3D model reconstruction, change detection, image fusion, pattern recognition, autonomous navigation, and digital elevation model (DEM) generation and orientation. The primary goal of the image matching process is to establish the correspondence between two ...
متن کاملDoes Color Really Help in Dense Stereo Matching
This paper investigates the role of color in global stereo matching approaches. In our evaluation study, we build various energy functions by combining nine color spaces with four dissimilarity functions and test their performance on 30 ground truth stereo pairs. Our experiments start by computing the matching scores via the absolute difference of color values. As is consistent with previous st...
متن کاملAdaptive descriptor-based robust stereo matching under radiometric changes
In a real stereo vision system, the acquired stereo images suffer from varying radiometric changes due to illumination and camera parameter changes. Therefore, we propose an effective matching scheme created by building a content adaptive descriptor. Specifically, the descriptor reflects image contents and its element are adaptively weighted and applied to estimate the correct corresponding pix...
